Everton boss Sean Dyche has told his players to "take it on" when facing the might of Manchester City and believes all the details will need to be spot on for his side to get something from the game.
City's next opponents are fighting for their Premier League survival. Former Burnley boss Dyche was appointed in January following the sacking of Frank Lampard.
Everton sit 17th in the top flight as things stand. They are two points clear of the drop zone and have three games to go of their campaign as they seek to remain in the Premier League and avoid dropping down to the Championship.
Last time out Everton had a remarkable 5-1 win on the road at Brighton, who themselves had Manchester United in their previous game. The victory saw Dyche's side climb out of the bottom three.
Next up for the Toffees is Pep Guardiola's side at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. Though well aware of the challenge facing his players and that everything will have to go their way against City, Dyche will deliver a simple message to his side to take on the encounter as he called on Evertonians to create an atmosphere.
He said: “The message will be simple: just take it on. It’s a big challenge obviously. I’m sure the Evertonians will back us as they do, it’ll be a really good atmosphere for us to go and play in.
“But it’s about taking it on with the mentality we showed at Brighton. All the details have got to be right against Manchester City. You might need them to have a soft one, and your key players play well, all of them things go in the melting pot.
"Yet, it’s still about us taking the game on.”
