Sean Dyche in honest admission after Nottingham Forest draw

Everton boss Sean Dyche claimed there were lots of positives to take from the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest.

The visitors went ahead twice at the City Ground but ultimately were unable to hold on to their lead as they looked for a vital win to take them out of the Premier League relegation zone.

However, after a 4-0 humbling at Arsenal in mid-week, Dyche was delighted to see his team do the "right things" against the Reds.

"I'm pleased. We're doing the right things and there's been real commitment to the cause since I joined," Dyche told Sky Sports post-match. "We got in so many good positions, and we know that they have a good record here too.

"It's just the details now, we've got to stamp out the mistakes, but we defended well and countered today. There was a lot of plusses about the performance. We know that we have to win games, but you have to re-start and this showed a really step forward. This was a really good away performance and it's a great building block to carry on the journey with.

Demarai Gray scored the opening goal from the spot, before Abdoulaye Doucoure responded with a second following Brennan Johnson's first-half equaliser. Johnson then grab Forest's second on 77 minutes to ensure the points were shared.

"We've spoken about the mentality away from home since I've been at the club but that was nearly the perfect away performance," added Dyche, who began his playing career at Forest under the great Brian Clough.

"There were just too many mistakes at both ends. I will say, I don't know how you get penalties these days, I never used to get them at my old club and I'm trying to get one here.

"It's a good away performance and I think we've done enough to win the game. We're asking more questions. I feel the performances are getting better and stronger. We've got to keep going."
