Sean Dyche is impressed with how quickly Everton players have adapted to his coaching methods. Sacking Frank Lampard after just one year in charge was a bold move by Toffees chiefs but, after just three games, their decision appears vindicated.
That is all it has taken for Everton to move up the table… and to Leeds United’s demise. Defeat at Goodison Park saw the Blues leapfrog their relegation rivals, moving out of the drop zone in their place.
As the full-time whistle blew, Leeds supporters were dealt a reality check as the prospect of Championship football next season became plausible. The Whites remain managerless almost two weeks on from Jesse Marsch’s sacking.

Everton boss Dyche hailed his players after grinding out another 1-0 home win. Speaking post-match, the 51-year-old acknowledged how the Toffees squad have progressed in a short space of time.
"I think they are showing, they are adapting, to what it is,” Dyche said. “They still have the freedom to go and play and I thought that was better today. Don't get me wrong - you play Arsenal and that is not easy because they are flying, Liverpool for different reasons, a tight game away from home and with the meaning and the purpose of it all that I am learning about.
"Today it was finding that balance between defending very, very solidly - which we did. I don't think they had a shot on target and, finally, on the transitions, how many times can we play ourselves?
“I thought there was some good quality football today so we want that balance to be right. You tie all that together with the work ethic and the demands on the group physically and I thought that was very good today."
