Sean Dyche 'amazed' after Everton penalty decision vs Nottingham Forest

Everton manager Sean Dyche was "amazed" by referee John Brooks' decision to not award his side a second penalty at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Dyche believes a foul on Seamus Coleman should have resulted in a penalty in the first half, when his player went down following contact by Jack Colback. Brooks explained that he believed Coleman had initiated the contact.

The visitors were already in front following an initial penalty, scored by Demarai Gray following Jonjo Shelvey's trip on Dwight McNeil inside the first 10 minutes at the City Ground. Everton went on to lead the game twice, Brennan Johnson responding each time with an equaliser for the hosts as the game ended 2-2.

Speaking post-match, Dyche said he felt "amazed" the decision went against his side. "Amazed we didn’t get a second penalty, but I don’t know what’s a penalty any more."

"You touch them on the shoulder and they go down and it is a penalty. Seamus clearly gets there, their lad puts his foot in front of him, kicks the back of his foot, but apparently that's not [a penalty].

"I don't know where that lives. I asked the referee and he said he didn't think it was a penalty. I said 'Well I don't know what is then' because at the end of the day he said he felt he [Coleman] has kicked the back of his [Colback's] foot, and I said 'Do you know why? Because he put a foot in front of his foot.

"If you are on goal and you are going to shoot and the defender puts his foot in front of yours and you kick it, I'm telling you that is a penalty."
