Recent events surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs have sparked a notable increase in streams of his extensive music catalog. Following his arrest last week and the unsealing of an indictment against him, data from industry analytics company Luminate revealed a significant uptick in on-demand streams of Combs' music. Known by various monikers such as Diddy, Puff Daddy, and P. Diddy, his music experienced an average surge of 18.3% in streams during the week of his arrest compared to the previous week.

It is not uncommon for artists to witness a rise in streaming numbers amidst controversy. For instance, after a documentary highlighting allegations of sexual misconduct against R&B singer R. Kelly, his streaming figures nearly doubled.

Combs currently faces federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. The indictment against him, which outlines accusations dating back to 2008, alleges that he engaged in the abuse, threats, and coercion of women over an extended period to satisfy his sexual desires, safeguard his reputation, and conceal his actions. Combs has entered a plea of not guilty in response to the charges.
