Disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lawyer has tried to explain why his client had over 1000 bottles of baby oil and lube in the house during a federal raid. And, uhhh, it’s… definitely creative??
Federal agents found the lubricant collection in Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami mansions back in March, and it makes up part of the case against the rapper. Diddy is facing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
“I don’t think it was 1000. I think it was a lot. I mean, there is a Costco right down the street. I think Americans buy in bulk, as we know,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo told the New York Post.
He also claimed the outrage over Diddy’s “freak off” parties was “puritanical”, which is an odd way to describe what court papers allege were “elaborate and produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically recorded”.
The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, also previously alleged that Diddy distributed “a variety of narcotics” to “victims to keep them obedient and compliant”, as well as using “the embarrassing and sensitive recordings he made of the freak offs as collateral against the victims”.
However, Diddy’s lawyer claimed those who attended his parties were there consensually.
“And you know these are consensual adults doing what consensual adults do, you know, we can’t get so puritanical in this country to think that somehow sex is a bad thing because if it was there would be no more people,” he said.
In another interview with TMZ, Agnifilo likened the parties to “threesomes”.
“Back when I was a kid in the late ‘70s, they were called threesomes,” he said.
When asked why Diddy kept such a large quantity of baby oil and lube in his house if he was only having threesomes as opposed to “freak offs”, the lawyer turned to his trusty Costco excuse.
“I don’t know where the number 1000 came from. I can’t imagine it’s thousands [of bottles of baby oil and lube], and I’m not really sure what the baby oil has to do with anything,” he said.
“[Diddy] has a big house. He buys in bulk. I think they have Costcos in every place where he has a home. I mean, have you sat in a parking lot of a Costco and see what people walk out of there with? I don’t think it was a thousand. Let’s just say it was a lot.”
A trial date for Diddy’s case has not yet been set.
