Seamus Power right in the mix at PGA Championship as Rory McIlroy slips back

Seamus Power has surged into contention for major championship honours in the PGA Championship with a third-round 67 at Southern Hills.

The surprise runaway leader - Chilean Mito Pereira - dropped back to seven-under from 10-under midway through his round with a run of bogeys, opening the door for a chasing pack that includes 35-year-old Power.

Power was unerring on the back nine and managed four birdies on the way in, recording one of the best rounds in the field on Saturday.

Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, has struggled since a 65 gave him the lead after Thursday's first round.

A double-bogey on the par-3 sixth and a triple-bogey on the par-3 11th dented his hopes of a first major triumph since he claimed the Wanamaker Trophy at this tournament in 2014 - taking him to +2 for the tournament and +6 for the day.

Shane Lowry was +1 for his third round and sits at +3 (10 shots off the lead held by Pereira at the time of writing).
