'I want my daughters to have the same opportunity' - Everton duo Seamus Coleman and Gabby George make history
Seamus Coleman and Gabby George have become the first Premier League and Barclays Women’s Super League players to sign up as official advocates of Her Game Too.
The duo kicked off their formal support of the campaign by inviting youngsters from an Everton School Supporters’ Club to Finch Farm for a special event to celebrate International Women’s Day. In December 2021, Everton became the first top-flight football club to formally support Her Game Too, which aims to champion women in sport and tackle sexist and online abuse.
While various activities have since taken place to highlight that support, Coleman and George have now become the first two top-flight players to officially back the initiative. Their duties will include raising awareness of Her Game Too and its key messages, and educating team-mates and fans about progress and positive steps being taken at Everton and beyond.
The launch event saw Coleman and George surprise youngsters from Wavertree Primary School by joining in a coaching session put on by Everton in the Community staff, before sitting down to discuss female role models and answer questions about inclusion in football. As an extra treat, the children were all given complimentary tickets to Everton’s WSL match against Liverpool at Goodison Park on Friday March 24 and a goody bag.

Sean Dyche has a double selection dilemma as Everton face brutal 12-game truth
Sean Dyche picked up his first points on the road since taking over Everton on Sunday, sharing the spoils in a 2-2 spirited draw against Nottingham Forest.
Despite earning a valuable point, many Blues supporters viewed the game as a missed opportunity with a great performance in spells and the team lacking ruthlessness in the final third to kill the game at 2-1 up.
The draw leaves Everton's Premier League status hanging in the balance, with Southampton picking up all three points against a lacklustre Leicester City in the late kick-off on Saturday courtesy of a Carlos Alcaraz strike. As it stands Bournemouth prop up the table on 21 points, trailing Southampton by goal difference. Then come Everton just one point above the south coast pair in 18th, with just one win in their last five.
Next up for the Toffees are Brentford under the stewardship of Danish head coach Thomas Frank. The London side sit comfortably in ninth, and are currently second in the form table having picked up 22 points in their last 10 league games, with Liverpool and Manchester City among their big scalps this season.
The Bees are undoubtedly looking upwards toward the European places which would be some achievement for a team only in their second top flight term.
