Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Kenneth Walker III had big shoes to fill this season after taking over the starting position. After earning himself the Offensive Rookie of the Month award, he showed he truly deserved it in Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale.
Coach Pete Carroll knows just how special his first-year player really is.
“He’s something now,” Carroll said during his Monday press conference. “He’s showing us stuff every time we go out. He’s got tricks, he’s got creativity. It stems from this marvelous ability he has and capitalizes on it because he’s so tough and he’s so aggressive. He looks like he’s going to pop those runs. He looks like he’s going to get out and now we have seen enough stuff that you think he’s going to sneak out and all of a sudden, he’s going to be gone again.
“I think that anticipation is always really exciting with a great runner, and he’s got that.”
“He just wants more, and it starts there,” Carroll told Mike Salk and Brock Huard during his morning radio show on Seattle Sports. “He’s highly competitive, he’s really physically tough, he’s got a great body and strength and power. You can see him, he pulls out of tackles, he runs through and over and around and all that. His instincts are really good. You can see him just sneak between tackles and hits and things and he looks like he’s gonna pop all the time.”
