The Seattle Seahawks may finally get to interview the head coach they’ve been waiting all this time for. According to NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks plan to interview Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald this week. This was contingent upon Baltimore losing the AFC Championship, as he would have been unavailable on account of the Ravens being in the Super Bowl.
But seeing as though Baltimore just lost the AFC Championship 17-10 this afternoon, Macdonald’s offseason schedule has just cleared up.
The #Seahawks plan to interview #Ravens DC Mike Macdonald for HC this week if Baltimore loses, sources say. If the Ravens win, Seattle has to wait. And SEA seems willing to do so — a la Shane Steichen last year.

The Seahawks are one of only two teams left who do not have a head coach secured for the 2024 season. At this point they seem to have the pick of the litter, as their only competition are the Washington Commanders.
If Macdonald has truly been the apple of John Schneider’s eye, then it seems Seattle will finally get their opportunity. Macdonald’s defense has been elite all season long, and despite two opening touchdowns his unit clamped down on the Kansas City Chiefs, shutting them out in the second half.
Even though the NFL keeps trending more and more towards offenses, it is hard to not be even at least a little intrigued at what Macdonald could do with the talented young players on Seattle’s roster.
