The Seattle Seahawks will be making a rare trip across the country in Week 2 to Foxboro, MA to play the New England Patriots. During the 2024 NFL draft, the Patriots actually had the No. 3 overall pick thanks to their abysmal 4-13 season last year. With their loft draft positioning, New England selected quarterback Drake Maye from North Carolina.
Playing the Patriots this early surely had some 12’s excited to get a first glimpse at one of the top rookie quarterback prospects. Unfortunately for them, they are not likely to see Maye take the field against the Seahawks.
Right now, it appears longtime journeyman Jacoby Brissett is in line to get the start against Seattle.
Our @933KJR guest @mikekadlick says "it would stun me" if Drake Maye is the starting QB week 2, Patriots vs #Seahawks in New England.
So from what we've been told this week, the Seahawks will face Bo Nix and Jacoby Brissett to begin the Mike Macdonald era with Seattle https://t.co/sQMvxCRitK

Brissett is back in New England, where he started his NFL career all the way back in the 2016 season. Brissett played in three games, starting in two of them, during Tom Brady’s infamous “deflategate” suspension. During his time as a starter, Brissett went 1-1. Weirdly enough, both games were shutouts. He won his first start 27-0 over the Texans, but was injured in his second start where New England lost 16-0 to the Bills.
Since then, Brissett has bounced around the league. He was traded to the Colts in 2017, and he remained in Indianapolis until 2020. After that, he had one year stints in Miami, Cleveland and with the Washington Commanders. Now, he has returned to his original team.
Brissett may not blow anyone away, but he is more than capable as a starter in this league. However, even with how bad the Seahawks defense has been, the Patriots’ offense the last few seasons has been somehow arguably worse. They should not take this matchup lightly, but this is one Seattle could find themselves as a road favorite.
