Seahawks’ hopes now lie with the Arizona Cardinals

The Seattle Seahawks went into Week 17 with two clear objectives: the first was managing to defeat the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. While it will go down as absolutely no one’s favorite football game, the Seahawks did in fact manage to do their part and leave Chicago with a 6-3 win.

The second part… is going to be a little trickier. Right now, Seattle’s best hopes at winning the NFC West lie with their fellow division rivals – the Arizona Cardinals. On Saturday, the Cardinals will have their season rematch with the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. If the Cardinals manage to win in the City of Angels, it will make the Week 18 game between the Seahawks and Rams a game to determine who wins the NFC West.

Arizona was eliminated from postseason contention in Week 16 thanks to losing to the Carolina Panthers and the Rams beating the Jets. As it stands, the Cards are underdogs by nearly a full touchdown. Winning will not come easy, but in Week 2 of this season, Arizona obliterated the Rams to the tune of 41-10. And while LA has been winning, it has not been convincingly. Since their dynamic 44-42 win over the Bills, the Rams have put together back to back 12-6 and 19-9 victories in the last two weeks. Their opponents? The 49ers and Jets, respectively.

It will be difficult, but Arizona escaping with a win is not outside the realm of possibilities… and the Seahawks need it.
