Seahawks have always been open about potential of drafting a QB

The Seattle Seahawks are in an enviable position this year, possessing two picks in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. Not surprisingly, there has been much speculation about whether or not Seattle will pull the trigger on selecting a quarterback with one of the top picks.

The Seahawks resigned both quarterback Geno Smith and backup Drew Lock back to the roster this offseason but general manager John Schneider said they’ve been open and honest with both since the end of last season.

“You know, our exit interviews with Geno and with Drew we told both of those guys, ‘Hey, look, we haven’t picked up here in a long, long time, and there’s a chance – we can’t say we will or we won’t,” Schneider said during his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710 am. “But, you know, we’d love to have you guys both back, but we don’t know if we are going to take a quarterback or we’re not – we just don’t know yet.

“So those guys were in the loop in terms of everything that we have going on with all these quarterback studies this year.”

As of now, Seattle heads into the draft with picks No. 5 and No. 20 overall in Round 1.
