The Seattle Seahawks continue their winning ways on Monday Night Football with a blowout win over the New York Giants. Just like last year when Seattle dominated the Giants, a final score of 24-3 did not feel anywhere near as close as even this kind of score would suggest.
Following a wonky, penalty-riddled first quarter, the Seahawks were in complete control following Geno Smith’s touchdown to DK Metcalf. Smith would briefly leave the game in the second quarter and was actually taken to the locker room for x-rays. Fortunately, he was able to return to the game, but in his place was Drew Lock who went 2-for-5 for 63 yards. A 51-yard pass to Noah Fant, who raced down the sidelines, helped set up a 1-yard touchdown run from Kenneth Walker III to take a 14-3 lead.
Buy Seahawks TicketsThe third quarter started even sloppier for the Seahawks. On their opening drive, Smith’s pass to rookie Zach Charbonnet fell incomplete on 4th down. Their following possession also resulted in zero points, as Jason Myers missed a 53-yard field goal.
Following the missed field goal, the Giants had their best drive of the night, marching all the way to Seattle’s 3-yard line on ten plays. But that was as close as they’d get to making it competitive, as rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon intercepted New York quarterback Daniel Jones’ pass and returned it 97-yards for a touchdown. From there, the game was effectively over.

The Seahawks’ pass rush came alive in a way we haven’t seen in years, absolutely feasting on the weak Giants offensive line. Altogether, Seattle sacked Jones an astonishing eleven times.
It was far from a perfect effort, but in the NFL, style points don’t matter. Wins do. The Seahawks improve to 3-1, remaining squarely in second place in the NFC West. They return home for an early Week 5 bye. Given how many injuries Seattle has suffered early on, I’m sure an off week is more than welcome right now.
