Seahawks coach Pete Carroll on facing Chiefs: ‘We’ve got a lot of work to do’

The Seattle Seahawks have backed themselves into quite a corner. After leading the NFC West with a 6-3 record earlier this season, Seattle has been in freefall mode ever since their bye week. The team has lost four of their last five games and sit on the outside of the playoff picture with a 7-7 record.

It won’t get any easier for Seattle this coming week, as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs at the fortress known as Arrowhead Stadium – where the Chiefs have gone 18-5 over the last three seasons.

“We got a lot of work to do,” exclaimed head coach Pete Carroll when asked what the message for the team was in regards to the Chiefs. “Where we picture this season ending up is a place we’re going to be really proud of if we pull it off, it ain’t going to be easy, it’s going to be hard. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do it.”

Geno Smith echoed the sentiments,  stating “We gotta win, gotta figure out a way to win, it doesn’t matter. We’re going to a tough environment, should be a lot of fun. A lot of young guys will be there for the first time. so they can expect it to be a lot of fun, but execution, one play at a time.”

Despite the loss, both Carroll and Smith expressed some positivity. Both felt as if the Seahawks did make improvements from Sunday, specifically from the run game and getting better explosive plays.
