The Miami Dolphins waived defensive tackle Brandon Pili in November 2023 and added him to their practice squad for the remainder of the season after he went unclaimed. They weren’t as fortunate this season.
On Monday, the Seattle Seahawks announced that they claimed Pili off the waiver wire, two days after he was waived by the Dolphins for the second time in as many seasons.
Presumably, the Dolphins intended on keeping Pili on the practice squad after spending more than 18 months developing the lineman. Instead, he’ll join the Seahawks’ active roster, as Seattle aims to improve a defensive front that ranks 26th against the run.
Pili, 25, became the first native Alaskan on an active NFL roster in nearly a decade when he earned a spot as an undrafted rookie in 2023. In 12 career games with Miami and 99 defensive snaps, he recorded four tackles.
Miami signed veteran defensive tackle Neil Farrell Jr. to the active roster Monday after twice elevating him from the practice squad.
