Seaham Food Festival announces scrumptious selection of vendors and entertainment

Seaham Food Festival has announced a scrumptious selection of vendors and entertainment that visitors can enjoy during the two-day event. The County Durham seaside town will come to life in just five weeks' time as the dream festival for foodies returns.

The festival will grace Seaham's coastline on Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7 for two days of food and fun. And this year's extensive list of food retailers have been revealed who are all ready to share delicious dishes and delicacies with visitors.

Festivalgoers of the Durham County Council event can taste a sensational selection of global street food, from traditional East Asian dishes, Greek gyros, and Lebanese shawarma to American-style burgers and luxury-loaded fries. There will also be a choice of local artisan traders, selling everything from cheese, jams, and pickles to distilled gins and brewed beer.

For those with a sweet tooth, there will be dessert stalls offering treats from brownies and cheesecake to churros, candy, and macarons. And when visitors are ready for tea break, a host of vendors will be ready with hot and cold beverages, from coffee to cocktails.

Cllr Elizabeth Scott, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, said: "We are really excited to announce the amazing traders for this year’s festival and I hope people are preparing their appetites for a fun-filled weekend. With over 120 stalls offering an assortment of incredible food, drinks, and activities, there will be lots to get your teeth into."

Local businesses along North Terrace are also taking part in the festival, with businesses operating from their premises and stalls. Visitors can explore community stalls offering crafts and workshops as well as independent traders selling everything from plants and garden décor to jewellery, pet supplies, and high-quality kitchen accessories.

Seaham Food Festival is just one of the many cultural events and activities taking place in the county this year, demonstrating the council’s ongoing commitment to cultural-led regeneration. This includes delivering key projects within the county’s shortlisted UK City of Culture bid and raising the county’s profile as a fantastic place to live, work, visit and invest.

It also includes progressing major capital projects, such as the redevelopment of the former DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery into a stunning new creative centre showcasing national and international contemporary art alongside collections that celebrate the county’s heritage.
