Sead Haksabanovic to Celtic earns 'miraculous' transfer verdict as Rubin Kazan chief breathes sigh of relief

Rubin Kazan sporting director Oleg Yarovinsky has hailed Sead Haksabanovic's move to Celtic as "a miracle" for the Russian club.

The Montenegro winger joined the Parkhead side for a reported €2million (£1.7m) last week as he answers Ange Postecoglou' s call for another versatile player who can fill multiple roles within the squad. The move comes just a year after Rubin splashed out €6.5m (£5.4m) to land him from Swedish side IFK Norrkoping, meaning they have lost more than €4m in a year on the winger.

But Yarovinsky admits with the financial difficulties at the club, recouping even that fee can be considered "miraculous." Russian football finds itself in a state of disarray with clubs having been banned from UEFA competition due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and Yaronivsky admits it's a major relief to bank any cash for Haksabanovic.

He told Sport 24 : "On the sale of Haksabanovic to Celtic, we managed to recoup significant funds, which in today’s realities can be called a miracle. The fact that we were able to get live money in such circumstances is a great success.

“I will not comment on the sum. Of course, when we took him, we were counting on a much better resale. Of course, the departure of such a player is a loss for Rubin.”

Haksabanovic is not expected to be the final arrival of the summer in Glasgow's east end. Postecoglou is also keen on adding another midfielder, and could look to add another striker if forgotten frontman Albian Ajeti is moved on.
