SEAD HAKSABANOVIC is finalising a deal to complete a move to Celtic, as defender Christopher Jullien leaves the club for Montpellier.
Montenegrin winger Haksabanovic has been in Glasgow for the last few days and is on the verge of agreeing personal terms. He could be announced as a Celtic player as early as today, with the Scottish champions having already agreed a deal with Rubin Kazan to secure his services.
The 23-year-old former West Ham man spent last season on loan at Djurgardens, and has been training on his own in Sweden this summer having told his parent club he had no intention of returning to Russia.
Celtic have taken advantage of that situation to agree a cut-price fee for a player who has been a long term target as manager Ange Postecoglou strengthens his attacking options further.
Meanwhile, French defender Jullien finally moved on yesterday after coming through intensive medical tests and agreeing a switch to Ligue 1 side Montpellier on a three-year deal for a fee of around €1m plus add-ons.
The 29-year-old saw a proposed move to German side Schalke fall through earlier this summer after failing a medical, but he has now secured his exit from Celtic as he goes in search of regular first-team football.
Jullien was a £7m signing from Toulouse back in 2019, and was a regular in the side under former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, scoring a famous goal against Lazio in the Europa League and the winner in the League Cup Final against Rangers.
He picked up a serious knee injury though when colliding with a post in a win over Dundee United and was sidelined for almost 16 months. Upon his return to fitness last season, he then struggled to get game time under new manager Postecoglou.
