Seameo Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts (Spafa) is holding a seminar and performance for the "Rain Motions: Connecting (With) The Skies Of Southeast Asia" event at Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center, Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue, on Friday from 9.30am to 5pm.
A collaboration with the Ministry of Culture with support from the Asean Cultural Fund, this collaborative activity, which began in February through a series of online workshops, has brought together a group of Southeast Asian scholars and performers to share and discuss rain- and water-related traditions and practices in their Southeast Asian countries.
After several months of sharing and discussions through the online workshop meetings, they will convene for a final, on-site seminar and joint performance. The seminar, running from 9.30am to 3pm, is open for the public to join.
After the seminar, the performers will present a "Joint Performance" celebrating the rain- and water-related traditions of practices of Southeast Asia. The show will be directed by a prominent and accomplished Thai choreographer who facilitated the online workshops.
An official opening ceremony will be held at 10am at the start of the seminar, with opening remarks by a representative of the Minister of Culture and remarks by Seameo Spafa Centre director Khemchat Thepchai.
Registrations for the seminar should be made by today via forms.gle/PtrE1VvH9WRioMJK6.
