Sea of beautiful flowers left for killed Brianna Ghey

A sea of beautiful flowers, balloons, teddies and messages have been left at the park where Brianna Ghey was killed.

The 16-year-old Birchwood High School pupil was found fatally stabbed on a path in Culcheth Linear Park at 3.13pm on Saturday, February 11. Cheshire Police said she had suffered multiple stab wounds.

There has been an outpouring of grief about Brianna's death. She was well-known for her popular TikTok account. Brianna, who was transgender, was also remembered for helping other young people with issues relating to their gender identity.

Hundreds gathered outside St George’s Hall on Tuesday, February 14, for a candle-lit vigil. Adorned in trans pride flags, attendees proudly held signs that read "you are loved", "protect trans youth" and "the future is queer" - all of which were complimented by the historical building lit up in trans colours - blue, pink and white.

After 45 minutes, the congregation continued to grow as the silent event showed no signs of dwindling. Now, hundreds of flowers, balloons, teddies and messages have been left in the park where she was found.

One message read: "Thinking of all family and friends. Brianna, you deserved so much better. Rest in power beautiful."

Another read: "You were strong and passionate, we will miss you. From all at Birchwood High."

Two 15-year-olds, a boy from Leigh and girl from Warrington, have been charged with Brianna's murder and have appeared in court. The teenagers appeared via two separate video links in court today, February 16.

Both accompanied by an adult, they spoke only to confirm their names and dates of birth at the short hearing. A trial date for July 10, with an estimated length of three weeks, was set by Judge David Aubrey KC.

He remanded both teenagers - who cannot be named for legal reasons - into youth detention ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on May 2.
