The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations have been affected by the devastating wildfires and winds in the Los Angeles area, leading to the cancellation of an in-person announcement planned for Wednesday morning. Instead, the nominations for awards recognizing outstanding performances in movies and television will be revealed through a press release.

The fires have caused significant damage, with homes and structures burning in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles and Altadena, a neighborhood near Pasadena, California. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, the live event that was supposed to be hosted by actors Joey King and Cooper Koch has been called off.

The 31st annual awards ceremony, which will be hosted by Kristen Bell, is scheduled to stream live on Netflix on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Last year's ceremony was hosted by Idris Elba.

The SAG Awards are known for being a reliable indicator of potential Oscar winners in the acting and best picture categories. However, the ongoing fires have not only impacted the SAG Awards but have also led to the cancellation of several entertainment events in the area.

Among the events affected by the fires are the premiere of the Robbie Williams biopic “Better Man,” the premiere of Jennifer Lopez's movie “Unstoppable,” and the premiere of Universal Pictures' upcoming horror film “Wolf Man.” The entertainment industry in Los Angeles is facing challenges due to the wildfires, with safety concerns taking precedence over scheduled events.
