Gardai and emergency services were alerted to the scene where a young girl was stabbed in Clare by other residents in the house after they heard of screaming.
Some attempted to gain access to the room but were unable and then raised the alarm. The young girl fighting for life after the frenzied knife attack was stabbed 75 times but miraculously none of her major organs were hit.

Both are said to be critically ill. The child, who had suffered multiple injuries to her neck and body, was found on Tuesday morning at a house near Clarecastle, Co Clare.
Her 46-year-old mum was also discovered unconscious at the scene. Gardai are not looking for anyone else in relation to the case. A source said: “It’s wait and see but the fact her major organs weren’t hit has given her a fighting chance.”
It is understood the results of a toxicology report are being awaited. The child and mother were staying at a property, understood to be a former B&B, which is being used to host Ukrainians who have fled the war.
After the mum and child were brought to hospital, the remaining occupants, who will be interviewed by detectives, were transferred to alternative accommodation in Ennis.
Officers have also conducted door-to-door enquiries. It’s understood the child had recently started primary school.
An incident room has been established at Ennis Garda station and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the probe.
A spokesman said: “This is a live and ongoing investigation.”
