‘Scream’ picked up by police bodycam on night of four Idaho student murders

Police bodycam captured on the night four Idaho students were murdered appears to have picked up a high-pitched sound that may have been a scream.

The sound was recorded at 3.12am on November 13, by an officer from the Moscow Police Department, who was responding to an unrelated incident nearby.

The next morning the bodies of Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20 and Ethan Chapin were found dead in their campus accommodation.

After the footage was published, internet sleuths picked up on the noise which split opinions. Some thought it could be a scream while others wondered if it could have just been the squeal of car tires.

The officer had been responding to a report of students underage drinking on Taylor Avenue nearby the murder scene on Kings Road.

Police believe the killings happened between 3am and 4am around the time the alleged scream was heard.

A neighbour of the four slain students has also reported hearing a scream the night of the tragic killings.

No arrests have been made in connection to the slaughter.

The coroner stated the four victims were likely asleep while some had defensive wounds, and each was stabbed multiple times.

There was no sign of sexual assault.

The university town has seen up to 40 per cent of students stay away from campus following the horrific stabbings with the murderer still on the loose.

Moscow police confirmed the house would still remain an active crime scene - despite some items being returned to the victims' families.

James Fry, head of Moscow Police Department, has vowed to not let the case go cold.

He gave an emotional interview insisting the force is still going through vital evidence to find the killer responsible for the deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and her boyfriend, Ethan Chapin on November 13.

But despite more than 2,600 email tip-offs and 2,700 calls to the police there is still no suspect or murder weapon.

He told Fox News: "This case is not going cold. We have tips coming in. We have investigators out every day interviewing people. We’re still reviewing evidence. We’re still looking at all aspects of this.

“And I said early on that no stone will go unturned. And I mean that. We are going to continue. This case is not going cold.”

He also confirmed officers would remove some of the personal possessions of the students left in the house, which aren't needed for their investigation.

He said the items would be transferred in a lorry and driven to a "secure location" until loved ones can collect the belongings - with the transfer done as discreetly as possible out of respect for the victims' families.
