Scottish women’s football club to feature in EA Sports game for first time

A SCOTTISH women’s football club is set to appear in a major upcoming video game.

Glasgow City will be first women’s club from Scotland to appear in the inaugural EA Sports FC 24, which is the first instalment of the popular football game since EA ended its franchise with FIFA.

The team will feature alongside many of the top European clubs, with the game also having licences to the Barclay’s Women's Super League, as well as the top flight Women’s leagues in France, Spain and Germany.

In addition, the game has the licence to the US National Women's Soccer League.

Alongside the four European leagues, Glasgow City will be one of many other playable top teams from Europe who compete in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Carol Anne Stewart, commercial manager at Glasgow City, said: "We are very excited to be the first Scottish Women’s team to be included in EA SPORTS FC 24.

"Visibility of role models is hugely important to us and this provides us with a fantastic opportunity to share Glasgow City players with our fans and partners on a phenomenally popular global platform."

EA Sports FC brand senior director James Salmon added:

''We’re proud to welcome Glasgow City FC to EA Sports FC 24. The reaction to the integration of Women’s Clubs in-game last season was incredible, and we're excited for fans to experience Glasgow City FC in-game for the first time.''

The game will be the 31st of the franchise and will launch worldwide on the September 29.
