A SMALL Scottish town near an "impressive" coastal castle has been named one of the best to visit in the whole of the UK.
The popular town in Ayrshire was named alongside other coastal spots like St Ives in Cornwall and Scarborough in North Yorkshire.
The Camping and Caravanning Club, which compiled the list, said it's hard to "beat a holiday to the British coast" with hundreds of beloved spots being dotted up and down the country.

Maybole, which is a ten-minute drive from the sea, was the Scottish town named one of the best in the whole of the UK by the Camping and Caravanning Club.
Discussing the well-liked town near the coast, the guide said that while Maybole is small, it has no shortage of "exciting" things to do close by.
The "impressive" Culzean Castle and its "secluded" beach with "spectacular views" were highlighted as must-visit locations.
Croy Shore Beach is another popular beach near Maybole that is great for walks and catching "picturesque views" of the iconic castle.
According to the guide, there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy while visiting, including Crossraguel Abbey, Electric Brae Galley & Studio and Blairqhuan Castle.
Culzean Castle, which is widely regarded as one of the best attractions in the region, is very popular with visitors.

One reviewer said: "Amazing castle and grounds, you can easily spend the whole day there as there is so much to see and do."
Another added: "Great place to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing round the house & great walks around the large grounds. Lovely cafe. All highly recommended."
