Scot Charlie Robertson battled into the second round of the boys’ singles at Wimbledon with a gutsy three-set triumph over German Max Schoenhaus.
The Dundee-born ace, 17, ground out a 6-4 2-6 6-3 victory on Court 3 to keep his SW19 dream alive.
Robertson reached the second round last year after being awarded a wildcard into the draw but was beaten by Brazilian eighth seed João Fonseca.
And he’s now advanced to the same stage with another impressive first round victory, teeing up a tough-looking clash with Korean ninth seed Jangjun Kim next up.
Robertson was also due to be in boys’ doubles action later in the day – but will have to wait until this morning after more wet Wimbledon weather intervened on Monday night.
Elsewhere, however, fellow Scot Jamie Murray successfully advanced to the second round of the mixed doubles with a comfortable straight sets triumph alongside American Taylor Townsend.
Murray, who lost his men’s doubles first round clash in what marked partner and brother Andy’s emotional farewell last week, triumphed 6-4 7-6 (5) on Court 2.
And there was further mixed doubles success for home favourites Henry Patten and Olivia Nicholls, who toppled compatriots Julian Cash and Scottish star Maia Lumsden in an absorbing battle of the Brits contest.
The dynamic duo won 7-5 7-6 (5) on Court 18 after Patten, 28, had booked his place in a first ever Grand Slam quarter-final in the men’s doubles earlier in the day.
Patten joined forces with Finnish star Harri Heliövaara to topple Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo 7-6 (1) 6-2 and propel himself to within just three wins away from an unlikely Wimbledon title.
The pairing will face recently-crowned French Open champions Marcelo Arévalo and Mate Pavić in the last eight and Patten can’t wait to test himself against the best.
“I’m buzzing – I’m over the moon about it and onto the next round,” he said.
“It’s just one match at a time – Arévalo and Pavić are coming off the back of winning the French Open and are arguably the best, most in-form team in the world right now.
“We’re just looking forward to that – they’re probably the most complete players me and Harri have played in our partnership so far.
“We’re looking forward to that challenge – it will be a real test and will be interesting to see how we get on.”
Defending men’s doubles champion Neal Skupski is another Brit in the quarter-finals as he advanced alongside partner Michael Venus.
The Liverpool star, 34, grabbed glory alongside Wesley Koolhof last year but arriving with a different partner 12 months on, remains en route to emulating those exploits after a 7-5 6-3 over American duo Chris Eubanks and Evan King.
Earlier in the day, there were several young British faces to join Robertson in the second round of the junior draw as Mark Ceban, Mimi Xu and Flora Johnson all advanced.
Cerba, a 15-year-old who stunned fifth seed and highly-rated Romanian Luca Preda 7-6 (2) 6-4, said: “I always believed I could win – I wanted to see how it would go and it worked out well.”
