A Scottish restaurant has been named as one of the world’s best by Conde Nast in a list that features reviews of other well known chefs from around the world.
Scotland is well known for some renowned chefs and iconic restaurants. However, one of them has now been recognised as one of the worlds best by Conde Nast in a list that includes only nine restaurants across the UK.
The Restaurant Andrew Fairlie in Auchterarder is named after the late Scottish chef who passed away in 2019. The restaurant is one of only 22 restaurants in Britain to receive two Michelin stars and has now been recognised by Conde Nast.

The list of 144 restaurants from across the world featured just 32 in Europe. Unsurprisingly, many of the featured European eateries were in well known restaurant hubs, with eight in London and six in Paris.
Each of the featured eateries on the Conde Nast list comes with a personalised recommendation by a professional chef. Luke Dale Roberts, the owner of the Test Kitchen and The Pot Luck Club in Cape Town described the Restaurant Andrew Fairlie as: “ Classic old world hotel, perfectly executed.
“The restaurant atmosphere was fun and attentive, and the staff was passionate. The food: Classic based and perfectly executed with modern touches and exceptional ingredients.”
The Restaurant Andrew Fairlie is found inside the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder, which recently opened their new Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh in Autumn 2021.
Although Andrew Fairlie sadly passed away three years ago, the restaurant continues to go strong under head chef Stephen McLaughlin, who has been with the restaurant since 2001.
However, those of you who would like to try the Restaurant Andrew Fairlie will have to wait for a while, with the next available reservation not until the end of October.
