Scottish Lewis Capaldi fans gutted as Ticketmaster queue reaches its thousands

Fans of Lewis Capaldi have been left waiting in queues of 30,000 people when trying to secure tickets to his UK 2023 dates today.

The Bruises singer took to Twitter to announce that his entire UK tour has sold out within minutes on Ticketmaster, adding how grateful he was for the support.

Lewis wrote: "ENTIRE UK TOUR SOLD OUT IN A SINGLE SECOND at 9AM, completely lost for words thank u all so so so much."

However, despite many people wishing Lewis well, a lot of fans were left unhappy at the Ticketmaster queuing system, and also criticised those who were reselling their tickets for a much higher price.

One Twitter user wrote: "i did not think lewis capaldi tickets would be this hard to get b***** hell."

Another said: "@LewisCapaldi mate this is Glasgow's queue!", alongside a photo of the Ticketmaster website, with the people ahead of the Twitter user in its thousands.

And a third wrote: "Need more dates in Glasgow or my 16 year old is going to have a very disappointing Christmas, was 20,000 in the queue so obviously got nothing."

More comments read: "@TicketmasterUK you really need to sort your s*** out! Can’t get tickets but can go to @viagogo and get them for double the price or more ! Shocking! @LewisCapaldi gutted, add more Glasgow dates!"

And another added: "@LewisCapaldi Absolutely disgusted by these greedy sods. We didn't receive the code for the presale, then both tried this morning-sat in queue for Glasgow & Aberdeen-couldn't get tickets at all-now on sale for £164 each!"

On various reselling sites, the tickets for Lewis' gigs in Glasgow and Aberdeen are going for as much as £814 per ticket - far from their original price of £47.70.

Lewis also added at the bottom of his tweet: "waiting to find out about all of the shows in europe keep trying if you're in queues JUST IN CASE someone doesn't check out or something."

A spokesperson for Lewis Capaldi said: “Lewis is incredibly grateful to everyone who bought tickets for the tour, either in the pre-sale earlier this week or on general sale today. He kept ticket prices as low as possible to cover the costs of taking what will be an incredible show to as many arenas in the UK as he can.

"We are aware of tickets being advertised on unofficial sites at inflated prices. Fans should note that there is no guarantee a purchase from such outlets will secure entry to the concert and that many of these are likely to be speculative adverts for tickets the seller does not actually own.

"Anyone looking for resale tickets should only use Twickets or the official Ticketmaster fan-to-fan resale site at https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/ticket-exchange, which only allow re-sale up to the original face value.”

Ticketmaster has been approached for comment on the matter.

The West Lothian star will perform in Glasgow on January 24, and Aberdeen on January 23.

Visit the Ticketmaster website here to check for any remaining tickets that might have gone back on resale.
