Scottish Labour have been accused of “intentionally misleading voters” in a leaflet ahead of an upcoming council by-election.
Voters in Glasgow’s Southside Central ward are set to go to the polls to elect their next councillor on March 20.
But the SNP have now accused Scottish Labour of “lies” over a number of claims made in the party’s campaigning material.
The leaflet (below) writes, for example, that GB Energy is “lowering bills and creating jobs”.

Keir Starmer, in comments which have been often repeated by his opponents, previously said Labour would help “families save up to £300 off their energy bills” by 2030.
However, the party has faced accusations of having “lied” to the UK public after Ofgem announced that the price cap would rise to £1849 per year from April – an almost £300 increase since Labour entered government in July 2024.
Meanwhile, GB Energy chair Juergen Maier also poured cold water on the Labour government pledge of 1000 jobs for Aberdeen – saying it could take 20 years to deliver last month.
Bob Doris, the SNP MSP for Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn, said this “mock newspaper” has been “designed by Labour to intentionally mislead voters”.
He then asked: “Will Anas Sarwar do the right thing and recall it from further circulation?"
Doris went on: "Since the election last July, the Labour party has broken a heap of promises to voters.
"Pensioners, WASPI women, child poverty campaigners and Grangemouth workers agree - Labour can't be trusted and they'll say anything to get into power.
"In a vain attempt to distract voters from wall to wall negative Labour headlines, Anas Sarwar's spin doctors have produced their own mock newspaper with the Holyrood leader front and centre.
"The problem is, that true to form, this Labour rag is full of lies.”
“Following the coldest winter in recent memory, it's frankly insulting for Anas Sarwar to claim that pensioners who have had their winter fuel payment stripped by a Labour government are now better off.”
Scottish Labour have been approached for comment.
