Scottish island music festival announces return after weather forced cancellation

A SCOTTISH island music festival has announced its “determined” return after extreme weather forced its cancellation last year.

Tiree Music Festival was cancelled just a day before the first act was due on stage in July 2023.

Festivalgoers who took the ferry to the island were told to make their way to Tiree’s An Talla community centre and more than 100 people had to shelter overnight.

A total of 25 acts confirmed for the 2023 edition of the festival will return this year, including indie-folk band Tide Lines, homegrown chart-topping talent Skerryvore as well as Ireland’s leading country singer Nathan Carter, who is a new addition.

Organisers have now announced a “determined” return, with the festival set to take place from July 12 to 14.

A small number of tickets are still available and can be found HERE.

Artistic director for the festival Daniel Gillespie said: “It gives us a real sense of pride that we have been able to confirm so many artists due to play at last year’s festival for our 2024 edition.

“It’s great that we’ve been able to make the logistics work, honour these agreements and can show them, and our incredibly loyal audiences, what TMF is all about.

“We’re especially excited to welcome Nathan Carter as one of our headliners and just know he will get the Tiree crowds going.

“We’re determined that this year’s TMF will be an outstanding weekend and we are so grateful to everyone who has chosen to support the festival and join us back on Tiree this summer.”
