Scottish icon Lulu reveals who she will be supporting in the Euros final

LULU has said she will be supporting England in the Euros final on Sunday despite her Scottish roots.

In an exclusive interview with The National, the Boom Bang-a-Bang singer said that whenever Scotland play she is always behind the team.

But having had a son largely brought up in England and family members with English children too, she said she would be supporting Gareth Southgate's side when they take on Spain in Berlin, as she did against the Netherlands in the semi-final surrounded by her relatives.

Discussing the Euros, she told The National: "I watched [the semi-final] with my family – my grandson was there, my son, my granddaughter, my ex-husband – we were all here. We couldn’t believe that last minute.

"It’s funny because my sister and my brothers, they’ve all got children who were brought up in England, like me, but when there’s a football match with Scotland, we’re all Scottish.

"But if there’s an England match against Holland or Spain this weekend, we will support England."

England's semi-final against the Netherlands came with a dramatic ending as substitute striker Ollie Watkins fired the ball home in the 90th minute to secure a memorable victory.

It means England will play in their second successive Euros final against a Spanish side who have become the first team ever to record six successive wins at a Euros.

The only loss Spain have recorded in their Euros campaign, including the qualifiers, was a 2-0 defeat to Scotland in March 2023.
