A HOTEL in Scotland located on the edge of an "ancient" woodland has been named one of the best in the UK for enjoying the great outdoors.
The lodging was named alongside hotels across the country, including The Horn Of Plenty in Devon and The Inn At Whitewell in Lancashire.

Culdearn House in Northern Scotland has been named one of the best lodgings in the UK for enjoying the great outdoors by The Good Hotel Guide.
Discussing the staycation spot, the guide said the hotel is "perfectly placed" to enjoy a distillery tour or whisky trail.
It added that the Victorian house, which is owned by Sonia Marshall, stands on "mature grounds on the edge of a swathe of the ancient Scots pine woodland that surrounds Grantown."
The location has received much praise from visitors over the years with users on Tripadvisor giving it a 4/5 out of 126 reviews.
One person wrote: "Very well looked after, food tremendous, entertainment outstanding. Felt we were welcomed as part of the family. Sonia and family couldn't have been more attentive. Grantown on Spey is a great centre for local walks."
Another said: "Supreme comfort with well-thought-out and accessorised rooms."
Discussing the food and drink on offer, they added: "Excellent, flavourful locally sourced food (especially the raspberries), very interesting wine list.

"Very difficult not to over-indulge at breakfast... tasty bacon, aromatic black pudding and possibly the best ‘square sliced’ we’ve had in ages."
A third person said: "I have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing two-night break at The Culdearn Hotel.
"In fact, it was so relaxing that it felt like I had been away for a week! The hotel has a wonderfully relaxed, homely feel, not unlike returning home to your parents for the holidays, except much, much better!"
