A Scottish house that was awash with beer cans and mountains of discarded rubbish covering the floor has sold at a surprising 50 per cent over its asking price at auction.
The home, in Glenrothes, Fife, made a name for itself last week when shocking images from inside surfaced, showing the huge piles of rubbish that had been left in every room.
The Record report how the terraced property on Alexander Road was optimistically placed at auction and labelled aa having "excellent potential". Clearly, the buyer saw that potential and invested in a load of bin bags into the bargain.

In the end, the property fetched £64,250, around 60 per cent more than the original guide price of £39,999. Indeed the mountains of rubbish may be an eye sore, but it's not quite mould or a problem regarding the actual structure of the house, plus it would be relatively cost-free to start a clean-up operation.
The property was reportedly the cheapest home in Glenrothes before its timely sale. Photos taken inside the home showed peeling wallpaper, scattered rubbish, a growing pile of Stella Artois beer cans and detritus lining everything from the fully fitted kitchen to the ready installed bathtub.
A video was also recorded by auctioneers showing a walkthrough of the house and placed online, in a rather unusual way of trying to entice a potential buyer. Potential bidders were even invited to visit the home themselves during an "open house" event on Thursday, ahead of the auction on September 2.
Mandi Cooper, managing director of Auction House Scotland, previously said: "Although requiring a complete refurbishment, it has excellent potential for a first-time buyer, investor or for those looking for a family home."
