The Scottish Government has confirmed TWO coronavirus deaths were reported in Tayside in the last 24 hours.
The area's death toll - composed of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - rises to 809.
Data from Public Health Scotland also shows that 433 new cases were recorded overnight in the region.
In total, Tayside has recorded 76,599 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
The latest local vaccination data shows that 333,815 people have had at least one jag, 313,771 have received at least two, while 248,871 have also received a third, or booster, vaccination.
Across the country, 8,262 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the last day.
There were 27 Covid-confirmed deaths reported meaning the country's overall death toll from the virus rises to 10,149
There are currently 1,514 people in Scotland's hospitals being treated for covid with 43 in intensive care.
The figures come as more Covid restrictions will be lifted next week amid claims Scotland has ‘turned a corner’ in the Omicron wave.
Nicola Sturgeon confirmed rules on table service and social distancing measures will no longer be required in Scots hospitality venues from Monday.
Non-professional indoor contact sports will also be allowed to resume from this date.
Nightclubs and large indoor events will also be able to restart normal programming next week.
