Scottish firm taken over by American car rental giant

A SCOTTISH firm has been acquired by an American car rental giant. 

Avis Budget Group, a global provider of transportation solutions, announced the acquisition of McNicoll Vehicle Hire on Monday, a specialist in the car and van rental sector operating in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.

McNicoll Vehicle Hire is headquartered in Newbridge, just west of Edinburgh, and operates with a varied fleet comprising of vans and cars. 

The acquisition sees Avis Budget Group grow its footprint in Scotland.

“McNicoll Vehicle Hire has built a strong reputation for delivering an exceptional level of service to their customer base and the Scottish market”, said Alan Olivier-Smith, Avis Budget Group UK general manager.
