Scottish FA admits to error causing Euro 2024 ticket sale delay

Scotland fans hoping to buy tickets for Euro 2024 today will have to wait a little bit longer.

The Scottish FA has admitted to an error when sending out purchase codes to Scotland Supporters' Club members.

Only members with 12 or more points are eligible to buy tickets for the major tournament at this stage of the ticket sale. However, it seems that members with 11 points or less were mistakenly also permitted the chance to buy tickets at 12pm today.

Now, the SFA says the sale of Euros tickets has been delayed until further notice in an email sent out to supporters' club members.

It reads: "Ticket sale delayed. Due to a technical error, UEFA Euro 2024 codes have been sent out to Scotland Supporters Club members who are not eligible to buy tickets at this stage.

"As a result of this error, the sale scheduled for 12 noon will be delayed until further notice when we liaise with UEFA to resolve the issue.

"The Scottish FA would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to supporters at this time. We will communicate further information on the sales schedule as soon it is available."

Scotland will face Germany in the opening match of the tournament, before facing Hungary and Switzerland.

Some fans delivered their reactions to the news on social media.

@DSStrachan wrote on X: "You had one job. As for the current sales schedule, it’s a joke. It should be revised and done on points exactly as it was for Euro 2020. A farce that some members on 20+ points will end up with a €600 ticket. Totally defeats the point in the entire points system."

@haggart_tracy said: "People cleared work diaries etc for this slot and now potentially in a position where they will be unavailable for a new last minute slot. How can mistakes of this magnitude be made? The fans deserve better."

Meanwhile, UEFA have rejected Feyenoord's appeal against a £15,000 fine for their fans displaying an offensive banner against Celtic.

The Dutch club were hit with financial punishment for three different incidents in their Champions League game against the Hoops in Rotterdam back in September.

They were fined £23,000 for blocking the stairs and a further £7,000 for pyrotechnics inside their De Kuip stadium.

But European football's governing body also hammered them when their fans displayed a banner that stated 'F*** Celtic'.

Feyenoord accepted the other two fines but appealed against the fine for their banner against the Scottish club, which UEFA decided was a 'challenging message of an offensive nature'.
