Scottish city to host 'whisky week' festival in celebration of national drink

A FESTIVAL dedicated to celebrating Scotland’s national drink in Aberdeen as part of “Whisky Week” has been announced.

The Scottish National Whisky Festival will take place at Aberdeen Music Hall on Saturday, September 14, as festival-goers will have the opportunity to sample hundreds of whiskies from world-renowned distilleries and independent bottlers.

There will also be guest spirits and “experimental flavours” across the exhibitor line up while visitors will be able to indulge in drinks from “world-class” mixologists at bespoke cocktail pop-ups.

There will also be live music and seminars from celebrated Scottish performers and industry experts in Music Hall's Coda Cafe Bar.

The inaugural event will cap off the city’s newly-established Whisky Week, which runs from September 5-15, and will celebrate the much-loved national beverage.

Gareth Croll, the festival’s co-ordinator said: “Year on year, our event in Aberdeen has grown to become one of the standout editions in our series nationwide, so it’s exciting to be heading back even bigger this year.

“We can’t wait to see our friends in the city, old and new, and look forward to welcoming this year’s visitors. So come along on Saturday 14 September and experience whisky from all around the globe - and as a special treat for this year’s edition we are also organising a special afterparty concert at local hotspot The Old Workshop from 9pm - free entry for all, everybody’s welcome!”

Tickets for the festival can be found here.
