Scottish city set for first branch of popular Asian restaurant chain

A POPULAR Asian restaurant chain is set to open a new location in a Scottish city.

Wagamama will open its first restaurant in Dundee on August 19, giving the chain a total of 10 venues across Scotland following the opening of the St Enoch’s Centre site in Glasgow earlier this year.

The new restaurant will serve all of the wagamama classics such as chicken katsu and ramen on its 50% plant-based menu.

It will also feature the chain’s new summer menu which includes new sides, mains, desserts and even a "pad thai sour" cocktail, inspired by the iconic Thai dish.

The restaurant will be located on Whitehall Street in the centre of the city and will be designed to accommodate 128 covers.

Open seven days a week, it’s expected to create 60 new jobs, bringing wagamama’s total to 167 restaurants across the UK.

“We are so excited to open the doors to our brand-new restaurant in Scotland,” said Milly Pearson, regional marketing manager at wagamama.

“Our benches will soon be welcoming the local community and visitors of Dundee, and we can’t wait to serve up some of our newest dishes and fresh favourites!

“Our fantastic new team have been working hard to ensure we’ll bring our much-loved wagamama experience to our guests and they’re so excited to land in their beautiful new restaurant once work is complete.”
