George Michael was a true powerhouse of late 20th century music. His hits with Wham!, including I'm Your Man and Last Christmas, as well as a fruitful solo career with the releases of Faith and Careless Whisper, ensured he went down in history as an icon in the music industry.
His new documentary, George Michael Freedom Uncut, will tell the story of the man behind the music, narrated by Michael himself and accompanied by archive footage. Countless peaks and troughs inevitably met his career, with many of them told throughout the two-hour film.
High-profile names from both the music and fashion industry will make appearances, all reminiscing about times spent with George on a personal and professional level. Notable among them are Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Nile Rogers, Ricky Gervais, Mary J. Blige and Mark Ronson, while Liam Gallagher describes George as 'a modern day Elvis'.

Released in cinemas worldwide today (June 22), the stories told will include the battle with his music company and losing the first love of his life to an AIDS-related illness. The trailer to the film also hints at George’s struggles with success, saying: "I can't really explain how overwhelming that kind of hysteria can be. I remember thinking, 'I really don't know if I will ever do this again.'"
