Two Scottish artists shortlisted for Mercury Prize Album of the Year award

TWO Scottish artists have been shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize Album of the Year award.

Barry Can’t Swim (below), an electronic music producer from Edinburgh, has been shortlisted for his debut album When Will We Land?

The album was previously nominated for Best Dance Act at the 2024 Brit Awards.

Meanwhile, Glasgow-based "future jazz" artist corto.alto has been shortlisted for Bad With Names, posting on social media that the album "was recorded with some of my favourite people in the world" in his flat in the southside of Glasgow.

The shortlist was announced on Thursday on BBC Radio 6 Music, with the winner set to be announced in September.

Among other nominees included Charli XCX, who made the list with her sixth studio album Brat, and indie band The Last Dinner Party with their debut offering Prelude To Ecstasy.

The band have performed at numerous festivals over the summer, including at TRNSMT in Glasgow earlier this month.
