Scottie Scheffler put on a stellar performance in the final round to secure the gold medal in the men's golf competition at Le Golf National. The world No. 1 displayed his dominance by carding a remarkable nine-under 62 in the fourth round, finishing with a total of 19-under-par over the four days of play.
Despite a strong challenge from Tommy Fleetwood, who matched Scheffler's final round score, a crucial bogey on the 17th hole cost Fleetwood the lead, allowing Scheffler to claim victory. Fleetwood settled for the silver medal after carding a par on the last hole.
This latest triumph adds to Scheffler's exceptional year, during which he has notched six wins on the PGA Tour, including a memorable victory at the prestigious Masters tournament in April.

Off the course, Scheffler's year has been equally eventful. He made headlines for an unusual incident before the PGA Championship, where he found himself warming up in a jail cell following a peculiar encounter at a police roadblock near the tournament venue. Fortunately, the charges against Scheffler were later dropped. Additionally, Scheffler recently embraced fatherhood, adding a personal touch to his year of professional success.
Hideki Matsuyama, who narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in a playoff in his home country of Japan three years ago, managed to secure the third spot this time around, capping off an impressive performance in the competition.
