Masters champion Scottie Scheffler arrived at Valhalla on Monday for the PGA Championship and was greeted with congratulations for a special reason - he is now a father to a newborn boy. Scheffler and his wife named the baby Bennett, who was born on May 8.
Despite his recent fatherhood duties, Scheffler has been on a winning streak, having claimed victory in four of his last five tournaments, including his second Masters green jacket and the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. His only non-winning finish was a runner-up position at the Houston Open.
Upon his arrival at Valhalla, Scheffler was warmly welcomed by fellow golfer Jon Rahm, who jokingly inquired about Scheffler's sleep schedule, being a father of two himself.
Despite strong competition from the likes of Rory McIlroy, who is coming off two consecutive victories, and defending champion Brooks Koepka, who recently secured his first win of the year at LIV Golf Singapore, Scheffler remains the betting favorite for the PGA Championship.
If Scheffler were to win the PGA Championship, he would achieve a rare feat, becoming the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2015, and only the fifth player since 1960, to win the first two majors of the year.
McIlroy, who won the PGA Championship at Valhalla in 2014, will be looking to repeat his success at the same venue, which marked his last major victory. Koepka, on the other hand, tied for 15th in the 2014 PGA Championship, a year before he officially joined the PGA Tour.
As the anticipation builds for the PGA Championship at Valhalla, golf fans are eager to see if Scheffler can continue his remarkable run and etch his name in the history books alongside golfing legends.
