DALLAS — A time-honored tradition in the world of golf sits in the hands of one of Dallas’ own.
Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world after running away with The Players Championship last weekend, will don his Masters green jacket as the official host of the tournament’s customary champions dinner next month.
A tradition since 1952, the champions dinner is held on the Tuesday of Masters week. Due to the event’s popularity, the menu selected by the defending Masters champion becomes shared publicly. It typically represents either the cuisine of the champion’s home or personal culinary favorites.
Jordan Spieth, who won the tournament in 2015, made waves the following year with a menu featuring beef brisket, smoked half chicken and pork ribs.
Scheffler, who won last year, revealed his menu in a Zoom call with reporters on Wednesday, dubbing it a list of his “favorite foods.”
A look at the menu...
— Cheeseburger sliders, served “Scottie-style”
— Firecracker shrimp, with sweet Thai chili and sriracha mayo
— Texas Ribeye Steak or Blackened Redfish, with family style macaroni and cheese, jalapeno creamed corn, fried Brussels sprouts and seasoned fries
— Warm chocolate chip cookie skillet, with milk and cookie ice cream
The major tournament is scheduled to take place from April 6-9 at Augusta National.
