World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler faced challenges with tightness in his lower back during the first round of the BMW Championship but reassured fans that it would not hinder his participation in the event. Despite shooting 1-under par, Scheffler struggled to loosen up his back, visibly wincing and grabbing his back after a shot on the 17th hole. He attributed the discomfort to waking up slightly sore that morning, making it difficult for him to execute his shots smoothly throughout the day.

However, Scheffler downplayed concerns about his injury affecting his performance in the tournament, expressing confidence that with proper care, he would be fit to compete in the upcoming rounds. As the current leader in the FedExCup, Scheffler's decision to continue playing reflects his determination to maintain his position and readiness for the Tour Championship in Atlanta next week.

Despite his struggles, Scheffler's performance fell short of the early pace set by Keegan Bradley, who leads the tournament at 6-under par after the first round. Hideki Matsuyama follows closely behind in second place, showcasing his skill with an impressive 73-foot birdie putt on the fourth hole.

Despite discomfort, Scheffler reassured fans of his continued participation.
