Scott Wright on his Rangers Michael Beale chats as he bids to 'catch the eye' of Ibrox gaffer

Scott Wright has detailed his chats with Michael Beale that he hopes will take his game at Rangers to a different level.

The Light Blues attacker had a major say in the League Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen at Hampden on Sunday by climbing off the bench and setting up team-mate Kemar Roofe just minutes later in extra-time to fire the Ibrox men 2-1 ahead in what proved to be the game winning goal to secure a return next month against Old Firm rivals Celtic in the showpiece.

Wright's game-time has been mostly limited to minutes off the bench under Beale as he admits to always trying to catch the eye of the gaffer in training or when he gets the chance to get on the pitch. He's also opened up on the 42-year-old's approach on the training pitch hailing him as an 'absolutely fantastic' manager. The Rangers attacker said: "It’s always something I try to do - catch his eye when I get opportunities on the pitch or even in training. I have to be ready when called upon, whether that’s [against Kilmarnock] or down the line.

“It’s been different bits and pieces [we have spoken about], looking at games or at the training. He’s an absolutely fantastic manager and I really enjoy working with him.

"I come in every single day and try to learn and work as hard as possible to try and get my place in the team. I knew him vaguely from before, when I had just signed and I had him for a few months and then he moved. It’s great to have him back and he’s given us a lift.

“It’s such a hands-on approach he’s got. The drills he puts on are good and you learn so much from them as he incorporates what we are trying to do in games.

“He’s always got an eye on the next game, how we build up the play and how we want to look in the final third. The sessions are really enjoyable.”
