Scott McTominay targeted by Manchester United's furious fans as toiling Scotland star told 'it's time to go'

Scotland star Scott McTominay was reportedly targeted by Manchester United fans following their latest embarrassment in a 4-0 defeat to Brentford. The midfielder was brought on as a half-time substitute with Erik ten Hag's hapless side already four goals down at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening.

United sit bottom of the Premier League after two fixtures with McTominay hit with criticism following the opening weekend loss at home to Brighton. But as things went bad to worse for the Old Trafford giants, fan frustration appeared to spill over as players made their way towards the team bus.

Sky Sports' chief report Kaveh Solhekol reports their anger turned towards McTominay in the wake of the humiliating result in West London. He says McTominay was told, in no uncertain terms, that he was "not good enough" and it was "time to go". The result is a new low for the club as Ten Hag's era gets off to the worst possible start.

Their form over the past 20 Premier League games would have them placed 19th in the table and none of the last 12 goals scored in their fixtures has been by a United player. In the past 12 months, they've conceded four or more goals against Liverpool, Brighton, Manchester City, Leicester, Watford and now Brentford.

So far this summer, the club have made only three signings in Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and free agent Christian Eriksen, with the former hooked at half-time in Saturday's defeat.
