Scott McTominay shines in Serie A: Another Goal for Napoli's Scottish sensation

A Scotland star opened the scoring within 25 seconds in a Serie A clash this evening.

Scott McTominay made the £25million summer switch to Napoli, leaving behind boyhood heroes Manchester United for pastures new, and he hasn't looked back.

The box-to-box midfielder netted his first goal during a 5-0 rout of Palermo in the Coppa Italia on September 26.

Since that memorable moment, he provided the perfect assist for teammate Khvicha Kvaratskheila to score against Monza last weekend.

This time, Napoli's home clash with Como had barely kicked off when McTominay fired in off the post from 12-yards out following some excellent hold-up play from Romelu Lukaku.

Gabriel Strefezza did equalise for Como before half-time. However, a Lukaku penalty and late David Neres effort ensured that Napoli remain at the league summit.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the full-time whistle, the 27-year-old earned praise from Lukaku:

"He knows my game, we played together in Manchester two years ago," the Belgian international striker said.

“I know his ability in front of the goal that is deadly, we expect many goals and assists from him. He's doing very well and he must continue like this."

Napoli are now four points clear of Juventus, who face Cagliari on Sunday.

It was only McTominay’s fifth appearance for his new club, with three of those coming from the bench as he got up to speed with life overseas.

The national team visit Croatia on Saturday before hosting Portugal at Hampden Park the following Tuesday as they look to register their first points in UEFA Nations League Group A1.
