Scott Brown set for Aberdeen exit as ex-Celtic skipper looks to kick-start coaching career away from Pittodrie

Scott Brown is set to quit Aberdeen in order to pursue his coaching career.

Stephen Glass appointed his former Hibs teammate as his player/assistant manager.

Despite 33 appearances for the Dons this season - on top of his coaching duties - Brown 's career at Pittodrie looks like it's coming to an end.

Glass' sacking and Jim Goodwin's appointment has seen Brown revert to a playing-only role. He also interviewed for the St Mirren vacancy left by Goodwin, but lost out to Stephen Robinson.

Reports claimed that Brown could continue in a playing capacity as captain.

But Football Scotland reports that the former Celtic captain is ready to terminate his contract at Pittodrie in order to become a full-time coach.

That would point to retirement for the trophy-laden Hoops hero who picked up 23 trophies over his career with both Celts and Hibs early on.

It is not yet known whether a player/coach role would be in Broony's future again.

Brown, 36, did some coaching at Celtic during his time as captain at the club and worked with the youngsters.

He was also on the shortlist to replace Goodwin at St Mirren alongside Steven Naismith and Dave Cormack at Dons is also a big fan.
