Scott Brown gets emotional Celtic send off as Callum McGregor leads tributes to 'one of the greats' after retirement

Celtic have wished Scott Brown a happy retirement with players and coaches lining up to pay tribute to one of their greatest ever.

First revealed in a Record Sport exclusive, the former Parkhead captain last week confirmed he has hung up his boots after leaving Aberdeen in March.

He plans to move into full-time management with former Hibs teammate Tam McManus predicting he'll land on his feet with a job this summer.

Brown won it all at Celtic with ten league titles and a total of 22 trophies to show for his 14 years of service.

And now he's hung up his boots, Celtic have given him a proper send-off with an emotional tribute video.

In the two-minute clip, his former teammate Tom Rogic says: "He's obviously a hugely important person to this club and Scotland as a country.

"Incredible career, just the amount of games he's played and the trophies he's won alone is super impressive.

"Add on top of that what kind of character he was and how he led. He led by example and in every match for such a long period. He will certainly be remembered as one of the greats, that's for sure."

Callum McGregor has stepped up to the plate since Brown's departure, taking the captain's armband and leading them to the brink of the Premiership title.

The Hoops need one point from their final two games to make mathematically sure but McGregor had some time for reflection as he said: "It's a sad day to see him retire.

"He retires with a huge legacy behind him as a Celtic player, captain and legend.

"So I wish him all the best in his next chapter but what a legacy he leaves behind."
